CEU Tracker Pro — Setup in Under 5 Minutes
Follow these steps to get CEU Tracker Pro up and running in your own Google account. Your data stays 100% private in your Google Drive — we never see or access it.
Works for Any Profession or Certification
CEU Tracker Pro comes with built-in presets for healthcare, legal, education, engineering, wellness, and more — but it's not limited to those. Use the "Custom / Other Profession" option in Profession Setup to track any type of continuing education, certification, or license renewal. If you have credits to track, this tool works for you.
Step 1: Copy the Template
Click the button below to copy CEU Tracker Pro to your Google Drive. Google will ask you to confirm — just click "Make a copy."
Copy CEU Tracker Pro to My Drive →
After copying, a new Google Sheet called "CEU Tracker Pro" will appear in your Google Drive. Keep this tab open — you'll need it for the next step.
Step 2: Open the Script Editor
In your newly copied Google Sheet, go to the menu bar and click:
Extensions → Apps Script
This opens the code editor in a new tab. You'll see several files listed on the left side (Code.gs, Data.gs, etc.). Don't worry about these — you don't need to edit anything.
Step 3: Deploy as a Web App
In the Apps Script editor, click the blue Deploy button in the top right, then select "New deployment."
In the deployment dialog:
- Click the gear icon (⚙) next to "Select type" and choose "Web app"
- Set "Execute as" to "Me" (your email)
- Set "Who has access" to "Only myself"
- Click "Deploy"
Step 4: Authorize Permissions
Google will ask you to authorize the app. This is normal — CEU Tracker Pro needs permission to create sheets, store files, and optionally send you reminder emails.
Important: You may see a screen that says "Google hasn't verified this app." This appears because CEU Tracker Pro runs from your own Google account, not from a centralized server. It's safe to proceed:
- Click "Advanced" (small text at the bottom left)
- Click "Go to CEU Tracker Pro (unsafe)"
- Review the permissions and click "Allow"
You're authorizing the app to access your own Google account — the code runs entirely in your account and no data is sent anywhere else.
Step 5: Open Your Dashboard
After authorizing, Google will show you a URL for your web app. It will look something like:
https://script.google.com/macros/s/XXXXX/exec
Click that link. The CEU Tracker Pro setup wizard will appear and automatically create your data sheets with sample data so you can see how everything works.
Click "Set Up My CEU Tracker →" and you're in!
Step 6: Bookmark Your URL
This is important! Your web app URL is how you access CEU Tracker Pro. Bookmark it now so you can find it anytime.
You can also find it later by opening your Google Sheet → Extensions → Apps Script → Deploy → Manage deployments.
You're All Set! 🎉
CEU Tracker Pro is now running in your own Google account. Here's what to do next:
- Explore the sample data — A sample license with CEU entries is already loaded so you can see how the dashboard, reports, and features work
- Add your first real license — Go to the Licenses tab and add your actual license information
- Set your profession — Go to Settings → Profession Setup to select your field or use "Custom / Other Profession" for any certification type
- Watch the tutorials — Short video walkthroughs for every feature: YouTube Tutorials
- Set up email reminders — Go to Settings → Email Reminders to get weekly deadline alerts
- Make it yours — Go to Settings → Customize Design to pick a theme and colors
Troubleshooting
I see "Google hasn't verified this app"
This is expected. Click Advanced → Go to CEU Tracker Pro (unsafe). The app runs in your own Google account — it's not "unsafe," it just hasn't gone through Google's third-party verification process because it's your own copy.
I lost my web app URL
Open your "CEU Tracker Pro" Google Sheet → Extensions → Apps Script → Deploy → Manage deployments. Your URL is listed there.
The app shows a blank page or error
Make sure you selected "Web app" as the deployment type (not "Library" or "API Executable"). If you chose the wrong type, create a new deployment with the correct settings.
I want to start fresh
Delete the data sheets in your Google Sheet (CEU Log, Licenses, Category Rules, Profile, Config) and reload your web app URL. The setup wizard will run again and recreate everything.
